$176,750 to support the digital shift of manufacturing companies

01 December 2021

At the MPA show last week, the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’innovation du Québec (MEI) announced its agreement to provide financial assistance to the Centre d'expertise industrielle de Montréal (CEI MTL).

Supported by Excellence industrielle Saint-Laurent, the CEI MTL's mission is to improve the productivity of Québec manufacturing SMEs through the democratization and integration of digital technologies.

Facilitating the digital shift of 30 manufacturing SMEs

This financial support of $176,750 will enable CEI MTL to implement the Digital Rebound program. This particular project, valued at $353,500, aims to support some thirty manufacturing SMEs in their digital shift with a view to improving their performance and productivity.

The Digital Rebound program is among the projects defined as regional priorities in Montréal following the exercise entrusted to the 17 regions of Québec aimed at stimulating economic recovery. Regional reflection and prioritization committees were mandated to focus on structuring, mobilizing and innovative projects to help promote growth in their territory.

This complements the efforts made by the Government of Québec as part of the Digital Transformation Offensive (Offensive de transformation numérique – OTN).

Promote the growth of innovative SMEs through specialized support

The Government of Quebec will also invest $130 million between now and March 31, 2022 to support projects designed to accelerate the digital shift of Québec businesses and foster the growth of innovative small and medium-sized enterprises through specialized support.

The Minister of Economy and Innovation, Mr. Pierre Fitzgibbon was also present at the forum Industrial Excellence 2021 held at the CEI MTL on Thursday, November 25.

“By supporting some thirty small and medium-sized businesses in their 4.0 shift, the CEI MTL is demonstrating once again that, in its desire to ensure Québec’s digital transformation, it is an important partner for the government. Its support will help improve the performance and productivity of businesses that benefit from the Digital Rebound program.”

Pierre Fitzgibbon, Minister of Economy and Innovation and Minister Responsible for Regional Economic Development

“The Digital Rebound program aims to respond quickly to the challenges facing industrial companies by leveraging Montréal's expertise in the field of technology. It will help SMEs review their strategy and rethink their business model. This initiative will accelerate the implementation of technological solutions and allow Montréal businesses to fully participate in the recovery of the regional economy.”

Chantal Rouleau, Minister of Transport and Minister Responsible for the Metropolis and the Montréal Region
