Each month in our Midi Export series webinars, we paint an accurate picture of strategic export markets for Quebec.

On Tuesday, October 20th, our expert export commissioners and their guests from the Southeastern United States will talk to you about Georgia, as well as Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and North & South Carolina.

Georgia, a strategic choice for your company

The city of Atlanta, the 10th largest economy in the country, is the economic hub of the Southeast United States. Atlanta has significant business opportunities in agri-food, information and communications technology, as well as aerospace, biotechnology and construction.

Challenges facing the Southeastern United States

In a turbulent context, despite a relationship strengthened by the U.S.-Mexico Agreement (ACEUM), U.S. foreign trade policy is often compared to protectionism, with national security issues and policies favouring local purchase raising challenges for Canadian exporters in penetrating this vast market.

A single country but several heterogeneous markets with non-tariff barriers therefore require a good understanding of each state targeted by the exporter.

Join the webinar for:

  • Learn how to penetrate these markets and new business practices related to COVID-19
  • Discover the promising sectors for Quebec manufacturers
  • Establish links and contacts in these American states
  • Surrounding yourself with the right business partners to export
  • Drawing on the experience of the Quebec company Alfa Mega

Did you know that…

  • Georgia is the 8th most populous state in the United States
  • The 9th largest state in the U.S. economy with a GDP of US $ 554.3 billion in 2017

Merchandise trade between Quebec and Georgia accounted for

  • 4% of Quebec's trade with the United States;
  • 3% of Quebec's total international merchandise trade.

The main Quebec products exported to Georgia are:

  • turbojet, turboprop and other gas turbines (10.7% of the total)
  • refined copper and copper alloys in unwrought form (10.0%)
  • sawn lumber (4.0%)
