As part of the Pedestrian and Shared Street Program, Ville de Montréal has announced three new pedestrianization projects in 2018, including one in Saint-Laurent.
Decelles Street (between Décarie and Sainte-Croix) will become a piazetta and a shared street. Street pedestrianization has positive effects on the environment: in addition to encouraging walking, streets become a vibrant place that stimulates neighbourhood life.
Since the Program launch in 2015, 12 pedestrian streets – in 10 of Montréal’s 19 boroughs – have been developed.
